The Child Advocacy Centers of South Dakota is an accredited State Chapter of the National Children’s Alliance and represents local children’s advocacy centers (CACs) in South Dakota.

CACSD was founded in 1998 with a membership of two centers in South Dakota. Today its membership has grown to four accredited centers and one developing center, serving children and families throughout South Dakota.

Our Mission

The Child Advocacy Centers of South Dakota (CACSD) is an organization that promotes the development, cultural awareness, growth and support of child advocacy centers and their multi-disciplinary teams in the state of South Dakota through education and training, mentoring, collaboration and advocacy.

 Goals of the CACSD Chapter

  • Every child in SD alleged to have been abused may have access to a multidisciplinary approach to investigation and assessment.
  • Share information, expertise, technical assistance and professional assistance among CACs
  • Coordinate and provide training for staff of CACs and MDTs to enhance professional skills
  • Strive to ensure cultural competency and provide culturally sensitive services for children
  • Identify, develop and share funding plans among CACs
  • Ensure national best practice standards are used statewide
  • Help improve each community’s response to child abuse

CACSD is a network of Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) dedicated to helping local communities respond to allegations of child abuse in ways that are effective and efficient – and put the needs of child victims first.
