Legislative Correspondent for Thune’s DC office visits Child’s Voice

Angela Merkle Site Visit 8-18-17Angela Merkle, a Legislative Correspondent for Senator John Thune based out of Washington D.C., visited Child’s Voice on Friday, August 18. This site visit came from an invitation that was extended to Merkle in early June as CACSD visited Senators Thune and Rounds and Representative Noem during the NCA Leadership Conference.

Led by Director Stacy Weller and Chapter Coordinator Nick Bratvold, the site visit included a tour of the center, addressing the function and need for Child Advocacy Centers and the future of CACSD. Merkle – whose policy areas include military and law enforcement among other related affairs – was eager to meet the staff of Child’s Voice, learn about the work they do and discuss how Senator Thune can continue to support our efforts in the South Dakota. More specifically, Merkle and Bratvold discussed Jolene’s Law Task Force and USD’s new Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment.

CACSD is excited to continue to work alongside our representatives – both in Pierre and D.C. – to increase awareness for child maltreatment and promote resources that will work to eradicate its presence in South Dakota.
