Watertown Regional MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) Update

The Jolene’s Law MDT Pilot Project in Watertown is up and running. A Stakeholders information meeting was held in Watertown in October 2016, and the first meeting of identified Watertown Regional MDT members was held in December 2016. A template for the interagency agreement was introduced. Law enforcement and child protection services work groups are reviewing sections of the agreement, and will offer recommended changes at the January MDT meeting.

The Facility Committee has toured possible locations for Child’s Voice to conduct forensic interviews and medical exams. The goal remains a July 1, 2017 start date.

Many thanks to the current participants in the pilot MDT whose agencies are providing in-kind time, mileage, and incidental expenses to support the region’s coordinated response to child abuse: Child’s Voice CAC, DSS-CPS, DCI, Watertown PD, Day County Sheriff’s Department, Coddington County State’s Attorney’s Office, Beadle County State’s Attorney’s Office, Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal Police and Tribal CPS, and Human Service Agency. And special thanks to Cameron Corey for building interest and engagement in this project in the Watertown area.
